Welcome to the University of Connecticut course placement site!
New freshmen:
Information on placement in first-year English, quantitative reasoning (Q) courses, and
Mathematics calculus courses may be obtained by clicking on the appropriate menu
section shown. By following the procedures given in each section,
you will learn which first-year
courses are the most
suitable for you to enroll in based on your prior schooling. Information
obtained via the placement process will help you and your advisor determine
an appropriate course schedule during registration.
New transfers: Depending on which courses you transfer
from your prior institution, you may need
to complete course work in English and/or quantitative reasoning to meet the University's
General Education requirements.
Information on placement in first-year English, quantitative reasoning (Q) courses, and

Continuing students: You may have been referred to this
site to obtain information about placement
in English, Mathematics calculus, or quantitative reasoning (Q) courses. Please follow the links
given in each of the sections shown to obtain information that will help you and your advisor
determine which courses will serve you best based on your background and prior
school work.
Important Note for New Students: This placement process
should be completed at least seven days prior to orientation/registration.
Important Note for All Students: Placement in Mathematics calculus courses requires completion of the Mathematics Calculus Readiness Survey. Additional information
and links to the online Survey are provided from within that section.
